Free software can be downloaded for viewing and manipulating 3D scans. Three packages are listed below.
MeshLab is an open source, portable, and extensible system for the processing and editing of unstructured 3D triangular meshes.
The system is aimed to help the processing of the typical not-so-small unstructured models arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes.Download MeshLab About MeshLab
SPIERS (Serial Palaeontological Image Editing and Rendering System) is a package of three programs for the reconstruction and analysis of tomographic (serial image) datasets, such as those obtained from serial-grinding of specimens, or from CT scanning.
SPIERSview is the 3D viewer for SPIERS and VAXML datasets. It is freely available and fully documented.Download SPIERSview About SPIERSview
Interactive 3D PDF files look exactly like the original 3D design, regardless of the application used to create it or the environment in which it's viewed.
Adobe Reader is free to download and use, but the tools used to create 3D PDFs are usually licenced.Download Adobe Reader About Adobe Reader 3D PDF
